Post 5: An Expert/ Person That I Admire in my Field

Dear Readers:  Today I want to talk about Jorge Peña Hen. He was a Chilean musician, composer and cultural manager. He was the founder of the first Children's Symphony Orchestra in Latin America. At the age of ten he dreamed of directing orchestras and at the age of fourteen he created his first musical work. He was concerned about the democratization of music education, enabling low-income children to access free, quality artistic training. With his wife Nella Camarda, every Sunday, they wrote the scores by hand, adapting to the level of progress of all the children, so that each one had their place in the orchestra. I really like his way of teaching and approaching music in orchestras, and I admire him for his way of sowing music in Chile and Latin America. Unfortunately, He was assassinated by the soldiers of the Caravana de la Muerte during the Chilean military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
